It’s been almost two years since our wedding and still waiting for our video. He refuses to respond to email, text and calls!
HI There
I am dealing with the same issue with Rick. I am not sure if there is anything we can do as a group to help us get our videos. Feel free to email me back if you want to connect. Take care
Rick is very unprofessional he has not responded back to any emails, text messages or phone calls. I have not received any of my videos for my wedding and/or pre-events. He had several different excuses initially however now he no longer responds. I continue to see that he has uploaded new next day edits and is taking on more work. It is heartbreaking that I have not received my videos and the other people on this website are suffering too. I would not recommend him.
Videogenic is not reliable at all and we do not recommend him. No one should be hiring this company as he just takes your money and doesn’t deliver the product. We hired Videogenic to provide video services for our wedding in 2019. We paid him 80% of the money before the wedding. He showed up to all of our events to capture the video but still haven’t given us the videos for our wedding. He has stopped answering our emails and calls but is still responding to other clients. Ricky should not be trusted at all. He lies to your face and then disappears.
Same! He refuses to answer, I’m not sure what to do. It’s so disheartening.
I am experiencing the exact same problem please message me perhaps we all can support each other in this stressful situation.
Hi, just wondering if you’ve received your video? It’s been over 2.5 years and he refuses to respond to us.
Worst customer service. Doesn’t deliver on contract. Completely ghosted us. Almost three years and haven’t received our video. At a loss for what we should do now.
Hi
I am in the same boat please reach out to me perhaps we can come up with an idea together
We’re currently experiencing this as well! We’ve emailed, texted and called him. Has anyone gotten a hold of him or know how too? It’s beyond frustrating.
Ricky is the worst. He’s a druggy and has a gambling addiction. He took 10K from me and ghosted me. It’s been 3 years and I haven’t received my wedding video. Best advice I can give is- DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY
Booking Ricky from Videogenic was the worst mistake we have ever made. I hate to do this to someone because I know reviews go a long way but after what we experienced; I want to warn any couples from booking him. We booked Ricky back in 2020 for our 2021 wedding based on recommendations we got from our friends. He did a great job with their NDE, and he seemed easy to work with. When we first contacted him, he was very accommodating and great to deal with so ended up booking him. Early 2021 as our wedding was getting closer, we contacted him for our engagement pictures. For a few months we got no response from him (which have should be our red flag at that time), we started reaching out to other videographers however It was May, and our wedding was in July. Finally, about 2 weeks before our engagement shoot, he messaged us back and assured us he would show up, which he did. During our wedding time he was great, showed up to all the events on time and was friendly and approachable. After our wedding, was another story. He told us we would get our wedding videos in March 2022 and as the date approached, we reached out to see if were still on track and no response. We reached out to him MULTIPLE times with no response, finally we heard back from him saying he was going through personal issues and he needed another month, so we gave it to him (this was after the contract date), we reached out to him AGAIN and again (countless times), we called, texted, and emailed we actually had to reach out to his family members to see if they could get through to him. I was basically following up every few weeks and heard nothing from April 2022- January 2023. In those emails we begged and pleaded with him, it got to the point where we had to threaten legal action, in January 2023, he finally sent us our raw videos, which were all over the place, hard to download and some of the second camera footage was missing. But after all that emotional stress he caused I just took what he gave and ended up getting it edited from someone local in Edmonton. I know I’m not the first person he’s done this with, I’ve seen countless reviews, and have heard firsthand experiences from other friends and family friends that he hasn’t delivered their videos to them or “lost them”. Not to mention when we were reaching out to him and not hearing back, we got our friend to reach out to say he was a new client and he was replying to him, he also shot another wedding after ours, and posted the NDE on YouTube but was basically ignoring us and not replying to us. It’s unfortunate that he is treating his clients like this, he is holding people’s very valuable once in a lifetime memory. It is so sad. Thankfully we had not paid the full amount to him yet, but we know people who gave a big deposit that he did not return when he couldn’t fulfill the dates, or who did pay the full amount who never got their videos. He had so much potential but unfortunately word of mouth is everything and he is ruining his own reputation, I would encourage anyone thinking of going through him not to! Like I said, I usually don’t leave bad reviews and hate doing this. I feel bad for whatever he’s going through personally but just because of his personal issues he can’t just screw over his clients and I would never want anyone else to go through what we did. Weddings are already stressful enough as it is you don’t want to have to worry about paying someone for your videos and then never getting them.
Hi there
Thank you for your review. I seen your post and I have been dealing with the same issue it has been nearly 4 years. Would you be willing to talk about your experience with me? Thank you so much and hope to hear from you soon.
Hi there, I’m willing to talk! Let me know where I can contact you
Hi there
I am not sure if you got my email address with me replying and we can connect? If not I can message plan event I just don’t want my information on a public site. Thank you very much!!
Hello Plan Events
Thank you for your message. Absolutely if you can forward my email I would appreciate it! Thank you very much
I am glad so many people are speaking up online. I wish people did this sooner, so many of us would not have fallen victims to this a**hole’s trap! We have a similar story. We got married in August of 2021 and Ricky made us sign a contract that said that he would deliver the wedding video by February of 2022. We are currently in the summer of 2023 and you can guess where we are sitting at…still e-mailing him and trying to reach him.
We chose Ricky for our wedding as we looked at his highlight videos on Youtube, and honestly, he did a good job in those videos! Once we hired him, we noticed lots of red flags but we kinda looked past them as most indian vendors are usually more practical and less formal with lots of services they provide.
1) The first red flag was that he had 2 business accounts, one named Videogenic and one named Ricky Aulakh. If you are serious about your business, you would work hard to grow one account, not 2 or more, especially if they are the same.
2)The other red flag was him always getting back to us days later. We would wait and wait to get an answer for any of our questions. The day we scheduled a pre-wedding photoshoot he showed up very late, but he ended up showing up. Another red flag, but we looked past that one too. On the wedding week, he showed up late to every event, again. But he showed up.
3) We also noticed that it took him seriously SECONDS to film anything. The photographer we hired took so long to perfect all of our poses, but Ricky would quickly capture a moment, and move locations. At that point we found that to be concerning, but we were too busy with our wedding events, we did not give it a second thought.
4) The biggest red flag that we encountered, was when he called us 2 weeks before the wedding week asking for the full fee so he can “buy new equipment” that he can use to shoot our wedding video. We now wish we told him to F*** off that day, but instead we thought “we have to pay him full fee eventually anyways, might as well do it now”. But that day we did not feel very comfortable receiving that call from him as it was extremely unprofessional, but at the same time… scary. What if he can’t buy this new equipment and cancels to shoot our wedding? Who are we going to hire 2 weeks before the wedding week? These thoughts scared us, so we just paid him in full.
5) Another red flag was that he told us that in the video package he will want us to have an indian look as well, with indian clothes. He told us that he travels a lot for other people’s wedding shoots, so he will give us a call when he is in the area (mind you he is from Calgary and we are not) so he can add the indian look to the wedding video as well. He never got back to us on that, so we called him asking him to shoot one of our extra wedding events, but he made up an excuse and told us that it is too late now.
6) He quickly edited our wedding highlights (next day edit) and played it on the screen, on our reception day. This f**** did an amazing job and did exactly what we told him to do, we were very happy. But little did we know, that was the only final product we would receive from him. We wanted the highlight video, so we asked him multiple times to either send it to us or post it on youtube so we can show it to those that could not attend our wedding. It took him MONTHS to post our wedding highlight. MONTHS! That’s when we realized that we got screwed. So we started sending him e-mails, text messages, DMs, phone calls etc.. but got nothing back.
7) Once we realized that he has ghosted us, we started collecting evidence from reviews online (when we hired him we saw nothing shady online, we now wish someone spoke up sooner and louder!) and any paper-trail that would indicate that he has breached a contract, stole our money, and never got back to us.
Once we started looking deeper into this guy, we noticed that he has multiple failed businesses under his name. Now it makes sense, he opens up a new business, steals money from people, closes the business by declaring bankruptcy or whatever, and runs away. By reading other people’s experiences, we saw that some people were able to get the raw footage from him. To be extremely honest, we feel like he never shot our wedding video. He shot enough footage to create a highlight video and called it a day. Even if we harass him to get us the raw footage, we doubt he has anything worth to be edited.
Of course we are not letting him get away with this, we have spoken to lawyers and other legal entities, and we will do anything to raise our voice and make sure that no other couple falls for his trap. It seems like he still answers to those that inquire to him, he is still alive and scamming people. He will play the victim and make you believe that his wife ran away with his money and his stupid footage or he has “pErSoNaL iSsuEs”.
if anyone is legally dealing with him right now, contact me!!!
Hi there
I am dealing with very similiar issues with him. It has been nearly 4 years since our wedding and no footage has been provided, I have tried writing reviews everywhere including BB but they do not get involved and I am not sure how many Indian people actually read reviews on Indian vendors. Please contact me would love to further connect and maybe figure something out. Thank you

January 11, 2021 at 7:42 pmFor pictures and video I hired Ricky Aulakh. He owns videogenic. Before I hired him I loved his work so that’s the reason I went with him. Overall he did a good job with the next day edit video and my pictures. For pictures he didn’t get a lot of content of just me and my husband or me and my family. It wasn’t very personal. I got married in June 2019 and I still haven’t got my wedding video back yet. He keeps giving me dates and delaying it saying he has personal issues so for that I wouldn’t recommend hiring him. I heard about him doing this to people before I hired him, and when I asked him he told me people just talk. So I believed him and hired him. But going through it myself I definitely wouldn’t recommend him only for that reason.
