I had hired her as a day-of coordinator, vendor liaison, and MC for a ceremony with only 83 people. The ask of her was very minimal, and expectations were communicated clearly. This was for our nikkah, so the only vendor arriving was the decor team. Catering was in-house and managed by the venue.

She would also frequently cancel scheduled meetings that were made on her e-calendar system and not rebook.

4.5 weeks out from our wedding, she failed to show up to our site visit which I had coordinated with our vendors (who all showed up). She texted me in the last 10 minutes of the meeting to say her brother borrowed her car and didn’t bring it back yet, and that she was going to leave Langley at that time to come to Vancouver at 3:30pm on a weekday. I told her not to bother, and had to schedule/reschedule e-meetings with her to follow up on what happened. It was radio silence on her end for several weeks after. She never ended up going back to the venue as she promised she would to get oriented. After many days of follow up calls, her partner finally answered the phone and said she can’t talk right now. As we inched closer to our date, we finally got a meeting with her 10 days before our wedding where we gave her a chance to explain, and she said she had a surgery which we can understand but she lost our trust with her silence. We formally let her go and asked that she provide us with the full refund of the deposit that was paid. She told us she would send us something in writing within 24 hours that outlined the refund terms. We AGAIN had to follow up for this in writing well after our wedding, and it said we would get our refund by December 31, 2022. Further, when I was getting my henna done 2 days before the ceremony, I was telling my artist about this fiasco and she said “Oh yeah I know Jay! She’s in Mexico right now!” Come NYE, we still didn’t receive our refund all day and finally at 11:50pm she issued it back.

She shouldn’t be running a business, and she makes it very clear that unless you are having a “big fat Indian wedding” where she’ll make a lot of $$$, you are not important. She certainly made us feel that our event didn’t matter to her and it’s not unreasonable for me to think it’s because it was a smaller ceremony. She is comfortable robbing people and not being accountable to how her actions impact others on one of the most special days of their lives.

My husband and I had the exact same issue with her. We hired her and had nothing but issues and eventually she stopped responding to us. we had to contact WestJet ourselves only to find out she quoted us a completely different price for our guests. She only responded after WestJet contacted her. She does not know what she is doing. I have no idea how purple door or sunrise eventz is still in business. She has zero idea how to deal with people. All she knows how to do is ruin peoples weddings and cause nothing but stress. She is full of promises that she can not fulfil.
I have spoken to 3 brides before our wedding and they had nothing but complaints as well.

If you are having issues and she is causing issues for destination weddings contact her boss from her travel one from the east coast office. We only got answers after we had to contact them.

I am glad we got rid of her and I handled all the wedding planning myself which was much easier then dealing with Jay Bains
