To all future brides who have booked or are considering booking Pink Orchid Studio, kindly read my review below. To begin, this message is not intended to attack anyone but is simply a review based on my personal experience.
I had contacted POS back in 2017 to inquire about Harp and Shannon’s availability for my wedding in July of 2020. Based on their availability, I proceeded with finalizing my wedding date. Although my ceremony is in Surrey, my reception is in Toronto and so without hesitation, I was going to pay the additional costs for travel.
Now during the POS scandal last year, I had messaged POS along with Shannon multiple times to confirm that my booking remained unchanged. I was reassured multiple times by both their office staff as well as Shannon that my booking remained unchanged regardless of the circumstances. I was a little worried hearing all the rumours of cancellations however; I took their word and stuck through with my booking because we all know finding hair and makeup artists in the lower mainland is not easy and, quite frankly, I did not want to go through the trouble of finding someone else when I based my whole wedding around POS’ availability.
To my surprise, I get a call from Shannon in January of 2019 to say that Harp will not be doing my reception makeup in Toronto as she no longer will be doing destination brides for whatever reason. I was given a few options, which included booking with another team, have Shannon do both my hair and makeup or book someone else all together. As disappointed as I was hearing this, I did not really have much of an option because I did not know of many makeup artists in Toronto so I went ahead with having Shannon do both my hair and makeup. I was reassured that Harp will 100% do the ceremony makeup. I was still very nervous accepting this but I did not really have much of a choice, as many of the HMUA’s were already booked.
A few months go by and once again, I get an email from POS saying that Harp can no longer do my wedding ceremony makeup either as she is off during those days. I was again given the same three options, as I was when Harp initially cancelled. I was told that Harp had actually cancelled on some other brides that weekend as well as it is her anniversary weekend. This is where I drew the line and decided to cancel my booking with POS altogether. I did get my deposit back but again, this is not something any bride should have to go through during an already very stressful time. I held off saying anything earlier because I felt that since Harp left the industry, there was no need to bring light to this situation but since she is back with POS, I just wanted to shed some light on my experience to allow everyone the opportunity to make an informed decision before booking.
The had Shannon and Harp from pink orchid get me ready during my wedding, they did such an amazing job by going off some ideas I had and then trusting them to work their magic. They were able to create such different looks and I received so many compliments that night, it made me feel like I was living in a real life fairytale.
Well they were getting me ready they make you feel so relaxed and remind you to take in the day, they make you feel like you’re getting ready with your girlfriends. They are both beyond talented and able to create pure magic. They make you feel the most beautiful and confident.
Thank you ladys for making my day that much more amazing.
I highly recommend Pink Orchid, they are definitely worth the extra cost they come extra prepared example able to pitch in and help family members finish getting ready, bring you food/coffee and just the environment they set up for you to get ready in just makes you feel at eaze and not stress at all.
I had the pleasure of having Shannon and Harp getting me ready for three occasions for my wedding. I had originally booked them for 2020 but since my first date got canceled due to the pandemic I had to reschedule and I had no problems with it. It was a very easy process for me with no stress having to worry about rescheduling and not having it work out. I’m more than happy with how my outcome was for all three occasions I couldn’t have asked for a better team to get me ready for my special day. I didn’t have a specific look on how I wanted it all to be but they executed it very well. It was so nice getting to know them both such humble and loving women. The wedding day I was really nervous and stressed but they both made me feel really confident, relaxed and stress free. It wasn’t about anything else that day they purely focused on me and making me feel my best as any bride should feel.
I would highly recommend them for any occasion specially bridal! My look couldn’t have been done any better then what they did. They are both so talented and good at what they do. I’ll always look at my pictures and be so happy with how I looked and they made that happen! They will always have my support with their business.
Hey – I wanted to provide my experience with Pink Orchid Studio (Harp & Shannon). I booked them for bridal hair and make up for September 19th. I booked them a year in advance and it was a terrible experience. On September 15th I had a phone consultation booked which no one showed up to. Later in the day, I get told Harp has covid and therefore cannot do my makeup for my reception. Shannon lets me know that her and Aman can do my H&M but I would still be required to pay Harp & Shannon’s rate. On September 17th, I get told that Shannon has covid. On my reception day, I end up with Victoria and Aman who show up late to my house and are an hour and a half late in getting me ready. This results in no outdoor reception pictures for my husband and I. My makeup was totally caked on, and my hair was falling apart during my reception. I still paid regular rate, no discount applied. On September 20 (day after my reception), Harp posts on snapchat that she’s at the beach with her family. Seeing Harp post the day after my reception at the beach makes me wonder if and when she got covid. If it was earlier on and her isolation period was over, why was I informed only 4 days before my reception? Even apart from the covid situation, they were incredibly unprofessional, unresponsive and lacked any type of customer service. They made my wedding week so stressful. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
These two ladies killed it! They created a group about two weeks before my event and asked me to send inspo pictures. The day of they were both on time, kept me updated as to when they left and what their ETA was. As for my look they exceeded my expectations, they listened to what I wanted and also gave me their input. Throughout the whole time getting ready it was literally like talking with friends and was not awkward at all, they made me feel wayyy less nervous. They even went out of their way to help my cousin who had a zipper issue and fixed that for her! 10/10 would recommend and I can’t wait to get pinked again for my wedding events!
Harp was my makeup artist and from the moment I sat down she acknowledged how I felt and knew what to do. She was able to relate to how I felt and showed me that all of my worries were not going to be present for that day. She was right and made me feel like a princess on my big day. Not only is she the best makeup artist out there but also one of the kindest human beings I’ve ever worked with. Victoria was my hair stylist and surely the best one out there! She was also understanding, sweet and made every minute exciting! I loved the vintage hair look she did on me, I got so many compliments. My hair and makeup was still flawless the next day. She executed my hair perfectly and I couldn’t have been happier! Overall, this team is amazing! You can see the respect and support they have for eachother. It is nice to have a team who genuinely cares and respects each other. They were one of my best decisions that day! Do not hesitate to book with them too!! Thank you pink orchid studio ❤
