The owner of Grand Taj was very professional and it was a sigh of relief to know we were working with someone who knows how to operate in the wedding industry. We used Grand Taj for our wedding catering as well, and knowing we were having our wedding in an outdoor space, they did a fantastic job of getting the food there on time and without any hiccups.

Review of Grand Taj Banquet Hall:

PSA for anyone booking them, always double check!

I booked Grand Taj Hall back in November 2018 for my maiyaan which is in June 2020 since my family has booked events with them in the past many times, so I trusted them and booked early. I paid a deposit for the larger hall to the event manager (and owner’s son) Bobby and was told I can come back any time before the event to finalize the menu and additional costs.

Since we were assured that the date was secured we waited until this past weekend to go back, not seeing the need to go before since the hall was confirmed for the date we wanted. Upon arriving at the hall this weekend, I was told by the hall owner that he could not find my booking. I assured him that I came in and gave the deposit to his son Bobby. After I mentioned his son’s name the owner seemed to be worried, since he had just started questioning who I had handed the deposit to, if it wasn’t one of the owners.

I assured him that I have the receipt and copy of the cheque at home, he told me that I can bring the receipt in but since they have a large party booked now I will have to have my party in the small hall or to move my event to the follow day, which were not options for me. If I was unable to find the receipt, then he basically said that there was not much he could do. I felt that I was going to be blamed for something that was halls responsibility, to keep record of their bookings! They did not seem to be too worried that my event was not in their system, but rather questioned me if I was sure of what I am saying I booked. They did not have a record of my event in their system, nor did they have a copy of my receipt, which to me, is shocking. I went home, found the receipt and returned the next day.

When I returned to the hall with proof of payment and realized that the receipt promised me the entire venue, not just the large hall, I was even more upset. The hall owners were both present and I was made to feel as if I did not come back after paying the deposit to confirm my booking, so it was not their fault, to which I asked what the purpose of a deposit was. At this point I did not want to have my party at this venue after how they made myself and my family feel. We did not feel comfortable doing a large party on the small side of the hall which would be very congested for our guests. Now with moving my event I am facing many additional costs due to Grand Taj Hall’s lack of responsibility when it came to booking my date.

The owners very easily said I can just switch my party to the following day and I was just making it a bigger deal than it needed to be, according to them it is easy to do. I informed them that many of my guests have booked hair and make-up, I have booked my own hair and make-up, would have to change my wedding week schedule and many other elements that I could not change. The owners asked me what they could do, but basically kept telling me that they can only give me my deposit back and that is it. I informed them that I am now facing additional costs due to their lack of responsibility regarding the booking, which they did not seem to care about. I asked if they can give me their decorators to use at my new venue as this is a cost that I did not anticipate and might not be able to find someone last minute, to which they said no.

My family and I felt that Grand Taj owners were very careless and insensitive with handling this situation. I have booked many vendors for my wedding and weddings for family members in the past, but never felt that a vendor has been this irresponsible. I urge everyone to double check their bookings with Grand Taj because if I trusted them and went into the hall a week before my event (how many people usually do) I would have been in a huge mess and I’m sure they would not have done anything to help, just like they did nothing now. Considering I told the owners how much stress they caused our family I didn’t feel that they cared, which is what bothers me the most and I wouldn’t want anyone else to feel like this during their wedding.

    Catering:
Food tasted great and the service is impeccable. Owner is accomodating and willing to work with you. All our guests complimented the huge variety on the menu, and the decor they provided. Felt very regal.

I had DJ Avi (@AvieSingh1) for my Jago, he was the secondary in house DJ at Grand Taj as the main in house DJ had another booking. Avi was great and we are so happy we had him, our party went until late and Avi was there the entire time, he played a great mix of new and old school Punjabi and kept everyone dancing!
